Best-known US tourist sites neglected
A new survey found that a majority of Americans have never visited some of the nation’s most well-known landmarks including the Alamo, Grand Canyon, Statue of Liberty, Golden Gate Bridge and the White Hou
HotWire.com, a discount travel site, said the Harris Interactive Survey found more than two-thirds of US travelers have never visited the Alamo, for example.
"Landmarks such as the Grand Canyon and the White House define our history and culture; but it’s surprising to me that many have only seen them on film or in photos," said Clem Bason, president of the Hotwire Group.
HotWire has also announced a new sale keyed to many of these destinations. Its average hotel price for San Antonio (site of the Alamo) is a discounted $66, while the average air fare is $354.
