Bet on diversification for success at gaming destinations
The key to success in gaming destinations is no longer lively shows, upscale restaurants and “comped” luxurious rooms but diverse entertainment options, according to panelists at a recent convention.
“It’s about expanding the amenities we offer to guests,” said Caesars Entertainment executive Jan Jones. “We have to focus on things that consolidate visitors, not just gaming play,” she said, according to hotel.online.com.
She and other top level executives made their comments at the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas.
In the past, gaming destinations would opt for more gaming venues over new attractions. But in today’s budget-minded market, “we have to compete not just for the gaming dollars but for the leisure dollars,” said Virginia McDowell, CEO of Isle of Capri Casinos.
The Isle of Capri, for one, pulled out of the global market. It’s focusing instead on its core domestic properties, says hotel-online.com.
