Big China contingent heads for ITE MICE
HONG KONG: Chambers of commerce of the cities of Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Dongguan have confirmed their support of ITE MICE from June 14-16.
Known also as CCPIT, or China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, these public organisations have been playing active roles in fostering business and economic co-operation with overseas partners.
The Councils organise outbound trade and study missions and group participation in overseas exhibitions, both as exhibitors and visitors.
Under the Councils are branch associations on specific sectors and/or industries which also organise similar activities for their own members.
These outbound activities are for business purposes catering for corporations and organisations, and are therefore not subject to regulations on leisure tour groups, such as Approved Destination Status restrictions.
ITE MICE is the only event of its kind in the Pearl River Delta (PRD), which with a population of 50 million and a combined GDP of more than US$300 billion ranks it among the world’s top 20 economies.
PRD is also home to about 7500 large multinational manufacturing enterprises, with more than 1100 regional headquarters of foreign companies in Hong Kong.
Held concurrently with ITE Hong Kong, Asia’s leading international travel expo, ITE MICE last year was attended by about 3000 trade visitors from corporations and the travel trade.
The 2006 ITE & ITE MICE drew more than 600 international exhibitors from 55 countries and regions, 45 official pavilions by tourism authorities with nearly 60 per cent from outside Asia.
Trade visitors numbered 10, 000 of whom 35 per cent were from mainland China and abroad, and respectively 55 per cent and 17.5 per cent being travel agents and corporate visitors.
The next ITE MICE will be held from June 14-16, 2007 at hall 2A of Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), while the next ITE from June 14 to 17, 2007 at halls 1A, B and C, and hall 2B of HKCEC.
