Big delays for passengers as fog blankets Wellington Airport

Thursday, 25 Sep, 2006 0

Flights had to be diverted to Palmerston North today as fog plagued Wellington Airport.

Fog covered the airport when the first flights were due to take off and land from 6am today and by 9.15am, some passengers were facing a significant delay.

An airport spokesman said while some flights had been able to take off and land, others had not.

“There’s quite a long delay and a lot of cancellations.”

When there were gaps in the fog, flights could land or take off, but there was no indication when it would lift completely.
