The Big Island Visitor’s Bureau has launched a sustainable travel site for visitors who want to make their vacation “green.”

The site highlights the Big Island as a top eco-friendly destination and offers visitors tips on how to visit the island in an environmentally conscious manner, such as renting a hybrid car, shopping and eating local and conserving energy.

The site includes hotels, resorts and restaurants that use green practices in their operations.

The Big Island Visitor’s Bureau said the sustainable tourism site is one of the first for tourism destinations worldwide.
