Big jump in new candidates for travel jobs
Recruitment firm C&M has reported a 36% rise in new candidate registrations last month compared with April 2017.
But the number of vacancies didn’t rise at the same pace, up only 5% year-on-year, according to its latest Travel Salary Index.
Meanwhile, travel salaries rose to an average of £26,952 in April, their second highest level in the past five years.
Salaries rose 3% compared to April 2017 while standard travel salaries (those paying up to £40,000) were up 4.81% to £24,151, the third highest since the index began. Executive salaries (over £40,000) were up 1% year on year, reaching £49,833.
Barbara Kolosinska, director at C&M Travel Recruitment and C&M Executive Recruitment, said: "After a very volatile first quarter of 2018, it comes as something of a relief to have a more stable month – especially one that sees salaries edging up to stand at their second highest point in the past five years.
"New candidate and vacancy numbers are also both up from last April, so there is clearly momentum in the market and we appear to be very well placed as we enter the start of the summer period."
