Big restructure at Western & Oriental
Western & Oriental Travel has undergone a big restructure with the departure of managing director Kerry Golds and head of trade sales, Steve O’Loughlin.
Raj Kumar, who bought the business back in April 2011 from Western & Oriental, will be combining the role of managing director and chairman.
Two divisions have been created under the new structure.
Des Walsh, who joined the business five months ago from Audley Travel, will head up Rainbow Tours and Regent Holidays as general manager.
Matthew Rushbrooke continues to head up the Western & Oriental division.
Dianne Ceresa, is brand manager for Rainbow Tours and newly appointed Gillian Leaning (ex Intrepid), brand manager for Regent Holidays.
Sarah Dean, formerly with Audley Travel and more recently Tourism Victoria, has recently joined the business to take up the position of brand manager for Western & Oriental.
David Pointer, who has been with the business eight years, has been appointed as group head of product and commercial and will oversee product development across all brands, reporting directly to the board.
Raj Kumar said: "The new organisation gives us a much more dynamic structure and one which can adapt to the market and drive forwards for growth.
"Our sales within the travel trade over the last year have continued to grow 10% year on year and this is one area which we will have particular focus moving forward."
On the trade side – head of trade sales Steve O’Loughlin will leave at the end of the year and is recruiting a sales manager as a trade point of contact.
