Big US airline merger expected very soon
Reports are fast emerging in the US press that the much mooted mega merger between American Airlines and US Airways will be announced as soon as next week.
But the Wall Street Journal said “unnamed sources” say negotiations are currently “fluid” and could still fall apart.
Most industry analysts now say the merged airline will be called “American” and will be helmed by US Airways CEO Doug Parker.
The Dallas Morning News reports that its sources say American Airlines CEO Tom Horton would probably step into the role of non-executive chairman.
