Biggest steamboat

The biggest steamboat ever built? It’s been identified by Guiness World Records.

It’s the American Queen, owned by the Delta Queen Steamboat Company.

At 418 feet in length, with a beam of almost 90 feet, the American Queen towers almost 100 feet high to the top of her twin fluted stacks.

The boat is patterned after 1880s models that Mark Twain described as similar to “a floating wedding cake glistening in the sun, so lavish that it appears sugar-coated.”

The Queen has antique furnishings throughout her 222 staterooms, which accommodate 436 passengers on six decks. The boat is an authentic steamboat that recently underwent a $2.3 million renovation.

The ship departs from New Orleans.
