Bill Gibbons to join Discover Ferries

Saturday, 25 Apr, 2013 0

The outgoing director of the soon-to-be disbanded Passenger Shipping Association Bill Gibbons is to become director of Discover Ferries, a consumer public relations campaign for the industry supported by 12 ferry operators.

Gibbons, a former general manager of the Sealink Isle Of Wight Ferries and the ferry line manager Harwich to the Hook of Holland, joins Discover Ferries on May 1.

His move follows structural changes with the Passenger Shipping Association which sees the closure of the PSA, with responsibility for ferries moving to the UK Chamber of Shipping, and a new body, CLIA UK & Ireland, focusing exclusively on the cruise industry.

"I am very excited to be returning to my ferry roots to head the Discover Ferries campaign under the aegis of the UK Chamber of Shipping", said Bill Gibbons. "Ferries offer a remarkable degree of freedom and value, especially for family travel, often operating around the clock."

Discover Ferries has also retained PSA PR agency Four bgb.
