Body found in hunt for missing tourist in Thailand
Police have confirmed that a body has been found during the search for British tourist who went missing after a beach party on the Thai island of Ko Phangan.
Andrew Apperley, 38, had messaged his mother to say he was going to the legendary Full Moon party on February 12 and planned to return to his hotel on Koh Samui by boat the following morning.
However he never returned to the hotel and he was reported missing four days later.
Formal identification has not taken place but Mr Apperley’s family in Gloucester have been informed.
"The circumstances of the death are unknown at this time," a Gloucestershire Police spokesperson told the BBC.
"Our thoughts are with Andrew’s friends and family."
Staff at the Hotel ibis Samui Bophut confirmed that his documents, including his driver’s licence and passport, were still in their possession.
His bank told his family his cards had not been used since going to the party.
