Boeing positioned to retake #1 spot from Airbus
Largest aircraft order orders in recent history worth $17 billion are leaning towards Boeing’s more fuel efficient 777 and 787 Dreamliners.
Singapore Airlines, Qantas Airways, and Cathay Pacific Airways are reported to be unhappy with continued delivery delays for the Airbus 380 and are leaning towards the more fuel efficient Boeing 777.
These major Asia-Pacific airlines are expected to place orders for more than 100 widebody jets this December.
Boeing sales for its 787 Dreamliner have been going great. Half of the Asia-Pacific orders are likely to be for the 787.
At the end of the day, nothing is certain. Airbus is well known for its aggressive deal making and could undercut Boeing in the last minute.
While Boeing’s strategy has been to build fuel efficient twin-engine planes with long range capabilities. Airbus’ four-engine A340 is considered a gas-guzzler, additionally; delivery delays of its 555-seat A380 super-jumbo jet have upset important customers.
