‘Bogota Babes’ fighting back
A pair of former cocktail servers at the Bogota Hotel Casino & Spa filed a sexual discrimination suit charging their work was secondary to “the size of their breasts and waistlines.”
The two said in a suit filed in New Jersey that they were required to sign a consent form where they agreed to maintain a clean smile and an “hourglass figure.”
They say their weight and height had to be proportionate. And they claimed their contract called for them to being put on unpaid leave for a 7% weight gain.
One of the women said when she went up two dress sizes after one year, she was not given a new costume to wear.
The lawsuit said the women were bullied and humiliated about their weight by management.
The cocktail waitresses at the Atlantic City casino are often referred to as “Bogata Babes.”
The Bogota was Atlantic City’s first new casino in 13 years. It opened in 2003.
Spokespeople said the company, a joint venture of Boyd Gaming and MGM Mirage, had a policy not to comment on pending litigation.
