Book a hotel, get free Bitcoin
One online travel agency is touting itself as the booking site of choice for Bitcoin users – even though it doesn’t yet accept bookings in the digital currency.
Hotelgo24.com is offering 5% cash back in Bitcoin for every booking made on the site, which features about 130,000 hotels worldwide.
Customers book with a credit card in the conventional way and the OTA promises to pay the Bitcoin cash back within seven days of checkout from the booked hotel.
The exact amount in Bitcoin will be calculated based on the exchange rate on the day of booking.
In order to receive a Bitcoin payout, customers firstly need to register on the site.
Speaking to Coinist.net, founder Grzegorz Kowalski explained why the site does not accept Bitcoin as a form of payment: "Our aim was not to encourage people to spend Bitcoin, but actually to give them an opportunity to gain it. If you want to buy something for USD, you have to earn it first. The same is with cryptocurrency."
