Booking process improved at BCP

NTL Business has created an XML link for BCP which allows the airport parking booking firm to receive agent viewdata bookings in real time.

Reservations made through BCP’s viewdata system on the NTL network will now automatically convert into XML code which immediately updates BCP’s own system.

Previously BCP manually dialled-in to NTL’s reservations network to collect viewdata bookings every few hours and to renew availability.

The XML solution brings BCP viewdata bookings into line with the company’s additional sales platforms, including the NTL-hosted website www.bcponline.co.uk and the company’s call centres.

The new link means BCP can update all its product information in one go, removing the need for a separate viewdata database, where content was entered manually by BCP.

Jill Cox, NTL Business (Travel Division) Head of Marketing, told TravelMole that she believed the industry was now starting to embrace XML technology. She said: “We can put an XML gateway between supplier’s reservations systems and the outside world and integrate new and old technology.”

Ms Cox added that the travel division was currently working with a tour operator to establish an XML link and would have a pilot system in place in the next two to four weeks. She explained that increased use of the technology would enhance what agents see on their screens as it meant content could be brought in from other places, such as brochures for example.
