Boutique hotel platform Tablet acquired by Michelin
New York based online travel company Tablet has been acquired by publisher Michelin.
Founded back in 2000, Tablet is still considered a niche booking platform but the Michelin deal will enable it to expand further globally within the luxury boutique space.
"Travelers and foodies are now looking for experiences which tell a story. Tablet is part of this new lifestyle that fully corresponds to the ethos of the Michelin guides," said Pascal Couasnon, director of gastronomic and tourist activities of the Michelin group.
Tablet’s boutique and luxury hotel listings number about 3,500 and are each independently evaluated and have verified reviews.
Its customer base is primarily North America with hotels across the globe including Asia, Europe and South America.
"Michelin and Tablet share an unbiased approach to curation, and now we’re combining forces," said Tablet co-founders Laurent Vernhes and Michael Davis in a release.
Vernhes will retain his CEO position of Tablet and it will continue operating out of NYC as a standalone brand.
