Brand USA taps Spotify for musical journey campaign
Destination marketing organization Brand USA hopes the lure of music will attract more inbound travelers.
In partnership with streaming service Spotify, it has launched a new marketing campaign called ‘Hear the Music, Experience the USA.’
It aims to promote five American cities through their distinct music genres with five varied renditions of the Bobby Freeman tune, ‘Do You Wanna Dance?’
The new renditions of the song include hip hop in Atlanta by Cam James, EDM by Bass Physics in Denver, a blues version by Nathan Quick in Houston, rock ‘n’ roll from Portland, Oregon by the Reptaliens and a soul version by Calma Carmona from San Juan, Puerto Rico.
"Music is universal that transcends language and cultural boundaries, and Hear the Music, Experience the USA presents an entertaining and highly engaging platform to showcase vibrant destinations across the United States," said Tom Garzilli, chief marketing officer of Brand USA.
"The artists’ passion for their cities shines through in each rendition as they reimagine a classic radio hit in a new digital streaming era."
The Spotify tie-up sees a list of 22 US city soundscape playlists, curated to serve as ‘an instrument to engage with international travelers’ and reflect the mood of each city.
Spotify users will then be directed to the Visit The USA website to explore the different cities, their music, and activities.
