Branson in Eurotunnel link

Sir Richard Branson’s name has reportedly been thrown into the hat by Eurotunnel shareholders who are unhappy with the existing management.

A group of investors in the company is reported to have begun a search for new management and, according to the Daily Mail, has approached various senior management figures including the Virgin boss.

A spokesman for the Defence of Eurotunnel Shareholders (Adacte) group reportedly told the newspaper: “We cannot announce anything immediately because we are continuing to search throughout Europe. We are looking for leaders and European entrepreneurs in industry, services, business and even diplomacy because it is a political problem.”

A spokesman for Branson reportedly told the newspaper that he was abroad and had not been contacted by Adacte, but added that he would “treat it seriously” if he was approached. He added: “Sir Richard knows a fair bit about it and is interested.”

The Mail reports that a Eurotunnel source “dismissed the rebel shareholders as lacking credibility”.
