Travelmole thought it was a long time since we’d seen Richard Branson camping it up in the name of publicity.
But all is well. The Virgin boss is all over Twitter this morning after supposedly losing a bet with rival airline boss Tony Fernandes, owner of low-cost carrier Air Asia X.
It seems Sir Richard’s forfeit for losing the bet will be to dress up as a flight attendant and work on one of Fernandes’ flights fron London Stansted to Kuala Lumpur.
Expected to wear heels, dress and full-make up, Sir Richard will serve passengers and clean the toilets (as all cabin crew must do) on February 21.
For the record, the two moguls were betting on whose Formula One team would be placed higher in this year’s rankings. Although both scored no points, Fernandes’ Lotus F1 team was placed in front of Branson’s Virgin Racing, thanks to better race finishing positions.
When Fernandes, who is known for regularly working the cabins to keep his finger on the pulse of his airline, won, he tweeted: “It’s confirmed February 21, 2011. Richard Branson will be a crew of AirAsia X.”
It is thought that seats for the flight will be auctioned off for charity.
