Brasstown Valley Resort details plans for adding a luxury spa
Brasstown Valley Resort, long known as Georgia’s premier mountain resort, will soon join an elite handful of properties in the region featuring full-service spa facilities with the addition of a 7,500 square foot Spa on site, property management announced today.
The Spa has been part of the resort’s master plan since its construction in 1995, and its construction rounds out a list of upscale amenities that include recently opened stables and mountain horse trail network, championship golf, heated indoor pool and miles of hiking trails and natural areas on the 503-acre property. General Manager Charles Burton said the Spa would transform Brasstown Valley Resort in many ways. “The total experience we can now offer isn’t available at most hotels or conference centers. A quality Spa on a property like Brasstown Valley completes the guest experience package and makes us that much more attractive as a destination,†said Burton. “The response in the market will be immediate—Spas are an attraction that many hotel guests specifically seek out.â€
Owned by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and managed by Coral Hospitality, Brasstown Valley Resort is located deep in the Appalachian Mountains near the foot of the state’s highest peak, Brasstown Bald. The resort’s natural surroundings and the cultural and ecological significance of the property were centerpiece design elements of the original resort. Brasstown Valley is a staple in the region’s inventory of hospitality offerings, and the addition of the Spa gives the property added cache as a destination attraction for the North Georgia Mountains.
The new Spa’s array of therapeutic services, from traditional massage, beauty and body treatments to holistic Native American healing and relaxation techniques, are being designed to compliment the resort’s natural outdoor and recreational environment. Surrounded by the magnificent Brasstown and Southern Appalachian Wilderness Areas, the Spa will feature high-country views from several indoor and outdoor relaxation areas featuring outdoor fire pit, decks, hot tub and communal relaxation area.
Scheduled to open by the fall of 2008, the $3.4 million facility will be located adjacent to the main entrance to the resort, and will be designed in the lodge-style motif of the resort’s lodge and guest cottages with natural timber furnishings, hand-crafted decorative elements, custom millwork, fireplaces and a variety of treatment rooms. The facility will also feature retail areas, men and women’s locker rooms and efficiently designed “back of the house†support areas for staff and infrastructure. The Spa design team includes the Department of Natural Resources, Coral Hospitality and the DaVinci Design Associates, a specialty design firm focusing exclusively on Spa design, management and operation.
