Breathless city guides?
San Diego, CA became the latest US city where guided running tours are offered.
City Running Tours, creators of the original tour in New York City, now operates in four tourist destinations; Chicago and Washington are the other two.
City Tours says it is now the largest guided running tour operator in the world.
“Tours – San Diego involves running side-by-side with a guide who, along the way, points out sites and conveys the history of that particular site as well as little-known facts. Each of the company’s seven guides is an experienced runner who is well versed in the city’s history,” the company says.
The company offers seven set tours of San Diego, as well as customized runs for individuals or groups with a specific training regimen, fitness ability or the desire to see specific sites.
Founded in 2006, City Running Tours started last year in New York City with NYC RUN when a native New Yorker and avid runner wanted to combine the two passions in his life, running and the Big Apple.
“Since then, the company has served hundreds of runners from as far away as Scotland. The idea has caught-on like wildfire and soon other major cities will provide a home for guided running tours,” says the company.
