Bring Che Guevara to life…………..
Like so many epics, the story of the obscure Argentine doctor Ernesto Che Guevara, who abandoned his profession and his native land to pursue the emancipation of the poor of the earth, began with a voyage.
‘Hands Across the Vallegrande’, a travel documentary about volunteers throughout Latin America who help protect human, animal rights and the welfare of the environment, is that modern day story.
Simone Francis and a crew of three will be filming from May 2008-May 2009, in over 10 countries throughout Central and South America, with one of the women joining Simone in her quest, Melanie Carlile, the owner of film company, Barefeet Films (barefeetfilms.com).
Simone has so far received confirmation that she can film in twenty amazing volunteer programs around the continent, including: –
** Ikiam Expedition (ecotourism with tribal people in the Ecuadorian Amazon);
** Inti Wara Yassi (an animal Sanctuary in Bolivia, which helps animals such as pumas, jaguars and monkeys); and
** Galapagos ICE organisation (improving health and educational systems in the Galapagos Islands).
Simone has also contacted the principals of a few Sydney schools, who have already welcomed her to speak to the students upon her return.
“What could be more beneficial to the youth of Australia, than having them hear that it is truly possible to live out your dreams.” said Simone.
“And what better dreams to have”, she added, “Than helping to save the world.”
World Nomads have kindly offered Simone and her crew free insurance at the very least and hopefully Show Film can also provide some sponsorship assistance. Also, Headstrong has offered to donate $5 from each ticket sold at one of their dance parties towards the project.
Simone is still seeking major travel sponsors though and is seeking ones who who are environmentally and humanitarianally conscious to provide air, ground and other support and she urges the Australian travel and tourism industry, including airlines, wholesalers, tour operators, accommodation and travel innoculation providers to come on board.
The opening of a non-profit organisation is another thing that Simone is trying to accomplish within the next month, with the documentary ‘Hands Across the Vallegrande’, just one of the projects running through the organisation, along with many other creative multi-media ventures.
