Brisbane travel “agent” in court for fraud
Reports from Queensland say that what is described as a Brisbane “travel operator” has appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court charged with eight counts of fraud for dishonestly obtaining over $A560,000.
Rehana Binti Mohamed, 48, years of age from Redcliff in Brisbane, apparently working as a commission agent, obtained money for air fares from seven parties in Queensland and New South Wales over a period of ten weeks, between May and June, 2004.
Court papers reveal that two of the alleged victims are Travelscene and Ghada Assad Travel, allegedly losing more than $400,000.
Mohamed was granted conditional bail and ordered to surrender her passport and not to contact any witnesses.
Mohamed’s lawyer said that the charges were untested allegations and that Mohamed will defend all the charges.
