Bristol puts accommodation online
Tourists browsing the city of Bristol website will now be able to book their accommodation online.
The West of England city claims to be the first UK city to take online accommodation bookings through its official website.
The website lists a range of independent and chain bed and breakfasts, hotels and self-caterting accommodation for Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.
There are about 14 properties signed up so far including Holiday Inn, Grange Ramada Jarvis and the Clifton Hotel Group, which has four properties in Bristol. A spokesperson from Bristol Tourism and Conference Bureau that the website was essentially a clearing house for the properties, which post discounted rate for late rooms.
The consumer pays the 10 percent commission and £5 booking fee online, then pays the balance when they arrive at the property.
The website also features deals for weekends, special occasions and seasonal bookings. The online accommodation booking system is designed and powered by Integra Systems Ltd, an OmniTourism company.
