British Airways launching Dreamliner route to Nashville

British Airways has confirmed a new transatlantic route connecting Nashville with London Heathrow.

The route kicks off on May 4, 2018 and becomes the first nonstop flight to London since the 1980s.

The Dreamliner route will operate five times a week featuring 35 lie-flat business-class seats and 25 in premium economy.

Negotiations to bring BA to Nashville have been two years in the making, the airport says, with the state providing $1.5 million in incentives to attract the UK carrier.

"This is a big day not just for Nashville, but for all of Tennessee because London is a gateway to and from all of Europe," said Governor Bill Haslam.

"Having a direct connection to London and Europe opens up Tennessee to even more investment and economic opportunities."

"We will outperform projections because there are a lot of companies that I think are going to use this flight to connect, not just to Nashville, but we already know companies that are looking at other parts of Tennessee," he added.
