British climber vanishes in Spain
Mountain rescue teams are searching for a British climber who has disappeared in northern Spain.
William Sutherland went missing while out climbing alone on the Picos de Europa mountains a week ago, according to a Sky News report.
Mr Sutherland, from Merseyside, is understood to have been on a trip with the Wirall-based Gwydyr Mountain Club.
A spokesman for the Foreign Office told Sky: “The Spanish authorities are conducting a thorough search of the area but this is being hampered by bad weather. Mr Sutherland’s next of kin have been informed.”
The Picos de Europa is a rugged mountain region which lies between the provinces of Asturias, Cantabria and Lyon.
