British woman missing after Thai tour boat sinking
A British woman remains missing three days after the dive boat she was on sank in rough seas in Southern Thailand.
Rescue teams say they have now discovered an empty life raft.
Millie Young, 57, from Brighton, and the boat’s Thai cook are still missing after the boat capsized
The vessel was carrying 18 people including Ms Young’s four travel companions, who were rescued.
A navy patrol plane and dozens of boats have been involved in the search around the Surin Islands over the Christmas period.
Rear Admiral Pongmit Narongkul of the Royal Thai Navy vowed to continue the search.
The search area has been widened and is about 35 miles from the Thai mainland.
“We are supporting the family of a British woman and are in contact with the local authorities,” the UK Foreign Office said.
In a separate incident in the past few days, 27 tourists were rescued when their boat capsized in choppy seas near Pattaya, Thailand.
