Budget carriers out-perform BA
British Airways saw its passenger figures slump by 12% in June, while no-frills airlines Ryanair and Go both reported big increases during the same month.
Passenger figures at BA fell by 12.2 % to 3,270,000. In contrast passenger numbers at Ryanair jumped 34% to 1,245,000, while at Go they increased by 71.8% to 550,749.
BA’s capacity cuts of 13% during June did not match the decline in customer demand – the airline saw its load factor for the month fall by 0.4% to 74.8%. Meanwhile Ryanair reported a six point increase in its load factor to 88%, while Go’s load factor improved by 9.3 points to 84.3%.
