Busy Easter boosts London Stansted

A bumper Easter period boosted London Stansted’s traffic figures for April.
The airport welcomed more than 2.4 million passengers last month.
It was up 16% on April 2022, and the airport had its busiest day of the year so far with 87,000 on Easter Monday.
The top three most popular country destinations were Spain, Italy and Germany, while the busiest routes during April were Dublin, Istanbul and Edinburgh.
The total passenger traffic for the 12-months ending April 2023 is 25.8 million.
This is an increase of 111% on the previous year.
Security performance during April was smooth, with 98% of passengers on average passing through security in 15 minutes or less.
Gareth Powell, airport MD, said: “I’m delighted we were able to offer our passengers a really smooth airport experience in April, particularly during the very busy Easter holidays.”
“April was our busiest month since September last year, and we expect demand to continue to rise.”
“During the month, our passengers had the choice of 17 more destinations than were available last April.”
