BVI promoting small hotels
The British Virgin Islands (BVI) Tourist Board launched a new Small Hotels, Villas and Inns program. “The program will raise the profile of 70-plus small hotels, villas and inns that have joined together and that are priced from economy to super deluxe,” said Russell Harrigan, chairman of the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board. As part of the program, later this year a new phone number and website for the BVI’s Small Hotels will be set up providing information on vacation packages sold by tour operators. Many of the BVI’s small properties are locally owned and are often overshadowed by the name-brand full-service hotels. “This new program will help these properties get the exposure they need,” said Mr Harrigan. Many of the smaller properties are along the coastline, offering views of the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean. Report by David Wilkening
