California beaches lure meeting-goers
Southern California airport hotels are promoting one of its unique features: beaches.
“No airport hotel in the country besides (those at) LAX has so many nearby beaches,” says Michael Krouse, senior vice president of sales and client services for LA INC., The Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Alongside the beaches, Marina del Rey has the largest man-made harbor in the US. There’s also the Port of Los Angeles, near San Pedro, which is home to Carnival Cruise Lines. Disney Cruise Line, giving attendees a chance to sail away on vacation after the meeting ends, is also there, according to Smart News.
Los Angeles County has 33 beaches, 75 miles of coastline and 22 miles of a pathway that links the beach cities of Santa Monica, Venice and Marina de Rey with Manhattan, Hermosa and Redondo Beaches.
“People don’t realize that all these beach communities are connected, and you can walk or bike the entire path,” Krouse told Smart News.
There are also regularly scheduled shuttles to the beaches from Century Boulevard near the airport.
Meeting-goers are also spared the need to rent a car since many of the hotels are within ten miles of Los Angeles International Airport.
In addition, many of the meetings hotels in the coastal cities are located right on the beach, the marina or the harbor.
