California No. 1 in domestic spending
The state of California ranked No. 1 in spending by domestic US travelers, according to the Travel Industry Association of America’s Tourism Works for America study. With spending of nearly $60 billion, California was followed by Florida ($40.1 billion), and Texas ($31.2 billion). The rankings change slightly when looking at expenditures by international visitors to the US. International travelers spent the most money in Florida ($15.6 billion), followed by California ($12 billion), and New York ($8.4 billion).
