Call for pilot strikes at Southwest Airlines
A Southwest Airlines union has called a vote to authorize pilot strikes.
Southwest Airlines Pilots Association is seeking better pay and working conditions.
The move comes after the carrier was embroiled in days of flight disruption.
The union is ramping up pressure for a pay settlement after nearly three years of fruitless negotiations.
“Given the trajectory of our leadership, we have little faith in the stability and future of our airline,” said Casey Murray, SWAPA president.
The airline says the prospect of pilot strikes won’t impact the business.
Southwest said further mediation talks are scheduled next week.
