Canada rail sales up

Canada is on track, says Rail Plus, reporting a 50% increase in the sale of Canada rail product for the 12 months to June 30, 2007.

National Sales Manager, Greg McCallum said Canada was seen as a “must do” destination and had been marketed so brilliantly that much of the increase had come from first time visitors.

“We also attribute the growth to an understanding in the trade that Rail Plus is the complete one-stop shop for all international rail, and as Canadian rail specialist we have the expertise to ensure a smooth booking process,” he said.

“It’s not just the iconic Rocky Mountaineer that’s doing great business,” he said. “VIA Rail’s passes and the combined Rocky Mountaineer-The Canadian nine-day Vancouver-Toronto package are doing exceptionally well.”

The “Canadian Trails” Vancouver-Toronto package, for example, is priced from $3831 per person twin share.  The trip includes The Rocky Mountaineer train travelling through the Kicking Horse pass to scenic Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper, an Ice Explorer ride on the Athabasca Glacier and then VIA Rail’s  flagship, The Canadian, for the trip across the prairies and great plains to Toronto.

Price includes train travel, accommodation and provincial taxes, sightseeing tour of Banff, Sulphur Mountain gondola ride, Ice Explorer ride (weather permitting), evening Jasper wildlife tour, National Park fees, Canada guide and map and 10 meals.

Prices are based on Popular Grade. Private berth upgrades are from $519 and upgrade to The Rocky Mountaineer Gold Dome are from $1060. Prices are available for twin, triple and single bookings.
