Canada reveals growth in UK visitors at Spotlight
Canada saw UK visitors rise to just under 1 million people in 2007, according to the Canadian Tourism Commission.
Speaking at the destination’s annual Spotlight trade show, held at The
Brewery in London this week, Andrew Clark, CTC vice president of sales and marketing, said: “The UK is without doubt Canada’s most important
overseas market.
“Spotlight gives all of us that are involved in Canadian tourism, and indeed
some that would like to be, the chance to discuss in detail the new opportunities, the prospects for the coming 12 months and beyond.
“Above all it allows us to strengthen the very close bonds that we have with
all of our clients and operators.â€
UK acting MD Nim Singh added: “This past 12 months has seen tremendous growth for UK operators into Canada. The next 12 months will hopefully see
even greater growth as we seize upon the opportunities such as Quebec 400th anniversary, the fantastic snow season we are enjoying, the build up to the 2010 Olympics and of course the ever present Canadian Welcome.â€
Over the weekend of June 30, Canada Day will be celebrated in Trafalgar
square with a series of high profile Public events.
Canada is the host of the 2008 TravelMole Web
Awards in May.
