Canadian passenger charged after Orlando airport joyride
A Canadian passenger was detained after a bizarre incident at Orlando Airport where he was accused of going on a joyride on the tarmac.
It began when Richard Hogh, 27, of Calgary was booted from a United Airlines flight after he took a seat in first class that wasn’t his, claiming to be a pilot.
After being thrown off the plane, he then removed his pants and jumped on a luggage towing vehicle, telling the driver he ‘had a flight to catch’.
Police said Hogh drove it onto a taxiway.
He faces charges of grand theft and trespassing.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Hogh’s bond was reduced by half to $2,600 on Christmas Day by an Orange County judge who described the incident as ‘more like a joyride on a very expensive piece of equipment’ rather than an intent to steal.
He was released on bond the following day and admitted he was under the influence of drugs when the incident took place.
"Don’t ruin your life kids, don’t do crystal meth," he uttered to waiting reporters.
