Canadian ULCC Swoop gets air operating certificate
Just days ahead of its planned inaugural service, Canada’s first ultra-low cost carrier has earned its wings.
Transportation Canada has awarded Swoop its air operating certificate, paving the way for the planned launch on June 20.
The carrier’s first flight is from Hamilton, Ontario, to Abbotsford.
"Receiving our air operators certificate ticks the last check-box, We’re immensely proud of the Swoop inflight, maintenance and operations teams for getting us here and we’re ready for takeoff on June 20," said Steven Greenway, president and CEO of Swoop.
The granting of the AOC means authorities are satisfied with Swoop’s aircraft airworthiness, personnel training, flight and crew manuals, and base of operations.
WestJet backed Swoop’s network so far includes Abbotsford, Hamilton, Edmonton, Winnipeg and Halifax
