Captain Kirk will finally blast off into space
Captain Kirk will blast off into space for real more than five decades after the TV show Star Trek
Actor William Shatner will boldly go into space at 90 years of age.
"Yes, it’s true; I’m going to be a ‘rocket man. It’s never too late to experience new things," Shatner tweeted.
He will fly with Jeff Bezos’ space travel company, Blue Origin and will become the oldest person to venture into space.
However Shatner won’t be the first actor to go into space.
Russia is sending an actress and a film director to the International Space Station for a film project.
It will be Blue Origin’s second launch with a full crew and will have two other paying space tourists.
Bezos was on the first flight on July 20.
"I’ve heard about space for a long time now. I’m taking the opportunity to see it for myself. What a miracle," Shatner said.
Shatner played Captain Kirk of the USS Starship Enterprise in Star Trek from 1966 to 1969.
Despite his age, Shatner met the company’s health and physical requirements, Blue Origin said.
