Caribbean specialist fails

Caribbean specialist A1 Leisure, trading as Complete Caribbean, has failed with “less than a handful” of clients overseas.

The CAA confirmed the Harrogate-based operator has ceased trading and said it had few forward bookings.

A1 Leisure had been an ABTA member since 1997.

Brendan O’Connor, cruise/travel consultant at Belfast-based Selective Travel, said a colleague had secured a large booking with the company a few weeks ago.

“It was for £1,000 commission, but we have managed to switch it to Thomas Cook Signature,” he said.

Rival company, Caribtours, has sent an email to agents offering to help out with any other bookings.

In it, Caribtours general manager Christina Hunter Locke said: “This is a difficult time for the travel industry and our thoughts are with the staff and management at Complete Caribbean.”
