Carlson Rezidor buys out Country Inns & Suites partner in India

Carlson Rezidor has acquired full ownership of the Indian joint venture business set up to operate its Country Inns & Suites by Carlson brand in the country.
 
Carlson has acquired Country Development & Management Services Private Limited (CDMS), the JV between Country Inns & Suites by Carlson, Inc. and Chanakya Hotels Private Limited.
 
The business will now be managed by Carlson Hotels (South Asia) and includes four Radisson Blu hotels managed in India by CDMS.
 
"India is an important market for Carlson Rezidor, where we offer seven brands from midscale to luxury. Country Inns & Suites By CarlsonSM is an integral part of our brand portfolio in the midscale segment. We look forward to bringing our management expertise to further drive value to our Country Inns & Suites By Carlson owners," said Raj Rana, chief executive officer, South Asia, Carlson Rezidor.
 
Country Inns & Suites’ India portfolio currently consists of 24 hotels and a further 11 are in development.
 
India is one of Carlson’s major Asia markets, and is on track for 170 hotels in operation by 2020, said Thorsten Kirschke, president for Asia Pacific at Carlson Rezidor.
