Carlyle Group invests in luxury tour operator
Asset management firm The Carlyle Group has taken a majority stake in luxury tour operator Bonotel Exclusive Travel.
Las Vegas-based Bonotel is a wholesale distributor of upscale hotels and resorts and national park accommodations in North America and the Caribbean.
As a receptive tour operator it works with over 2,000 hotel partners, such as MGM Resorts, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts and Loews Hotels offering luxury F.I.T. accommodations and custom services to international tour operators.
Bonotel founder and CEO David Sporn will remain in charge of the business and also keeps a substantial financial stake in the company.
"We are excited to partner with Carlyle and believe this transaction speaks to the strong financial track record and growth prospects of Bonotel," said Sporn.
Adam Glucksman, Managing Director of The Carlyle Group sees high growth potential ahead for Bonotel leveraging Carlyle’s global resources and industry expertise.
The Carlyle Group already has a varied portfolio of interests in the travel industry, including investments in Brazilian tour operator CVC Brasil, Viator, and major Chinese online travel agent Ctrip.
