Carnival Corp appoints new Asia exec
Carnival Corp has appointed Michael Ungerer as chief operations officer-shared services for Carnival Asia.
Ungerer is currently president of AIDA Cruises, Carnival’s German based brand and will relocate to Shanghai from September 1.
Ungerer will report to Michael Thamm, CEO of the Costa Group, which comprises AIDA Cruises and Costa Cruises and will support all Carnival brands in Asia.
"We have every confidence that Michael’s leadership will have a major impact in his new role for Carnival Corporation in Asia, where we are the leading cruise company and expect significant growth opportunities, especially in China," said Alan Buckelew, global chief operations officer for Carnival Corp.
Ungerer joined AIDA Cruises in 1997 and has served as president for three years.
Prior to this he was senior vice president of operations at AIDA, overseeing guest services, shore and marine operations, and purchasing.
Felix Eichhorn, a long serving executive at AIDA will replace Ungerer as president.
