Carnival Cruise Line extends Mobile deployment for three more years
Carnival Cruise Line will extend home porting at Mobile’s Alabama Cruise Terminal for another three years.
The line will keep Carnival Fantasy at the port until November 2022.
Its four- and five-day Mexico cruises bring in about 170,000 guests to Mobile each year with many adding to the local economy with pre- and post-cruise stays in the city.
"Carnival Fantasy remains a popular cruise vacation option for our guests, attracting vacationers from all over the southeast who appreciate Mobile’s convenience and centralized location," said Terry Thornton, Carnival’s senior vice president of nautical and port operations.
Mobile itineraries include calls at Cozumel, Coista Maya and Progresso.
Next year Carnival will also offer two longer duration cruises which include a 10-day Caribbean sailing.
"Carnival helped generate more than 25,000 hotel room nights in Mobile last year, supporting thousands of jobs in our restaurants, shops, hotels, and cultural institutions," said Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson.
