Carnival expands “chog” crackdown
Carnival Cruises has announced the expansion of its anti-chair-hog policy fleetwide.
The popular ban on a particular form of cruise pest was first applied to the 3,690-passenger Carnival Breeze vessel. As soon as it was announced, it went viral, spawning many Facebook and Twitter comments lauding the demise of the "chog" or chair hog.
The policy sends staffers around to deck chairs that have been "saved" with bestsellers, towels and other paraphenalia. These monitors place 40-minute warning stickers on the offending chairs. If the user does not come back and actually sit in the chair in that time period, the "chog’s" stuff ("chuff"?) is stored away and the chair is freed.
The crackdown will be rolled out across the fleet in the coming weeks.
