Carrentals.co.uk parent opens travel comparison site
Car hire price comparison site Carrentals.co.uk is to be expanded globally after its owners rebranded as ASAP Ventures.
Previously covered by the Carrentals brand, ASAP Ventures will continue to own the UK site together with new travel comparison site asap.co.uk and accommodation listing directory Self-Catering-Breaks.com.
Asap.co.uk will compare prices from airlines, operators, hotels and car hire companies. Claire Hayes has joined from Opodo where she was head of travel products, while Debbie Snowden joins from Holiday Autos where she was acting commercial director.
The focus will be on expanding the group’s portfolio in both travel and consumer markets following sales revenue of £8 million in the last financial year, a statement said. This is expected to rise to £20 million next year.
Carrentals, which opened in Germany last month, is to be introduced in other parts of Europe and Australia in the next six months.
ASAP Ventures marketing director Gareth Robinson said he wanted to mirror the success of Carrentals.co.uk across other areas.
“To achieve this we needed to re-brand to support our increased scope across a range of travel services, ranging from car hire and flights to accommodation and package holidays.
“The new name supports our growth in the travel market, but will also help us develop additional online services in other consumer markets.”
