CDC ends country-specific Covid travel advisories
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is no longer issuing standard Covid-19 travel advisories for individual countries.
Now, an advisory will only be issued if a country has a spike in a Covid-19 variant or other concerning public health situation.
This is because ‘fewer countries are testing or reporting Covid-19 cases’ the CDC said.
“CDC’s ability to accurately assess the Covid-19 levels for most destinations that American travelers visit is limited,” the agency said.
Travelers should remain up-to-date on their Covid-19 vaccines and follow CDC guidance for travel overseas.
The agency had been updating its advisories each week.
The CDC is still advising testing before boarding flights back to the US.
