Cebu to ease travel restrictions for domestic tourists
Cebu Province in the Philippines is planning to ease restrictions and open regional borders to accept travellers from across the island nation.
The province has already allowed travel to some tourist areas, but only for Cebu residents.
An agreement was made between Governor Gwen Garcia and the Cebu Provincial Tourism Task Force to ease restrictions to help the local economy and tourism operators get back on their feet.
The Governor’s office is expected to release specific guidelines in the coming days and a reopening date will be announced.
Before then the Task Force will meet with tour operators, ferry companies and airlines.
Tourists staying in resorts and hotels will only need an advance booking but those planning activities and tours will need to register in advance with the Cebu tourism portal at Cebu.gov.ph.
Cebu is a major tourism destination for both domestic and international travellers and the Mactan Airport is a major air hub.
