Celebrating Snoopy in Sonoma Wine Country

Tuesday, 15 Jul, 2025 0

This summer is all about Snoopy and the gang in Sonoma Wine Country.

Snoopy Presents: A Summer Musical is the first Peanuts musical in over 35 years, premiering on Apple TV+ this week and collaborations are  popping up everywhere. These include StarbucksGRIND, Timex and streetwear  in celebration of Peanuts’ 75th anniversary.

There are new exhibitions to mark the diamond anniversary of the Peanuts comic strip and 60 years of ‘ A Charlie Brown Christmas’, at the Charles M. Schulz Museum, The museum  has seen a 100% uplift in visitor numbers in the last year, so there’s never been a better time to visit the place where it all began – Sonoma County, California

Sonoma is the long-time home of cartoonist Charles M. “Sparky” Schulz and the spiritual hometown of the Peanuts crew.

Just 90 minutes north of San Francisco, Santa Rosa is packed with heartwarming tributes to Schulz’s legacy — from Snoopy ice rinks and Lucy statues to a dedicated museum and even a Charlie Brown-themed airport.

With the new Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! 75 Years of Humor in Peanuts exhibition launching this September, it’s the perfect time to make the pilgrimage. Sonoma County has curated a suggested two-day itinerary for visiting fans.

Two-Day Peanuts Pilgrimage – Highlights:

Day One: Santa Rosa

Fly into Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport where Peanuts characters greet travelers at every turn. Seek “advice” at the airport help desk, designed to look like Lucy’s psychiatric booth.

Visit the Charles M. Schulz Museum – featuring a new 75 year celebratory exhibition, Schulz’s recreated studio, an oversized bird bath in the courtyard, rare comic strips, a mural a Japanese artist created using 3,588 comic strip tiles and the “kite-eating tree” courtyard.

Ice skate at Snoopy’s Home Ice, and enjoy a hot chocolate at Warm Puppy Café, one of Schulz’s favorite hangouts, He ate breakfast and lunch there almost every day. His favorite table by the front window is permanently reserved for him.

Browse for merch at Snoopy’s Gallery & Gift Shop,

Explore Coddingtown Mall, where more Peanuts statues await.

Overnight at the Hyatt Regency Sonoma Wine Country, complete with a larger-than-life Lucy statue.

Day Two: Around Sonoma County

Snap photos with Marcie, Lucy, and Woodstock in Downtown Santa Rosa’s Courthouse Square and Railroad Square.

Discover quirky shops and Peanuts tributes along Fourth Street.

Visit Sebastopol, Schulz’s first Sonoma home, and pay respects at his peanuts engraved memorial on his gravesite.

The Snoopy gang were bowling fans – stop by Double Decker Lanes in Rohnert Park, where a bowling Snoopy statue awaits.

End your day in Bodega Bay with seaside views and seafood at Rocker Oysterfeller’s, home to yet another Charlie Brown statue.

Set against rolling vineyards and coastal charm of Northern California, Sonoma County is the ultimate sumer destination for Peanuts lovers.
