Celebrity Cruises achieves autism friendly certification
Celebrity Cruises has been awarded the Silver Level standard for ‘Autism Friendly’ certification by the Autism on the Seas organization.
The new designation recognizes the cruise line’s best practices in accommodating guests with special needs, and the use of new Autism friendly products.
The Silver standard denotes Celebrity has a dedicated youth staff team trained in autism awareness by AotS.
"Our Autism Friendly certification is extremely important to us, as we want all our guests to have an amazing experience and enjoy their modern luxury cruise," said Becky Thomson-Foley, director of entertainment, Celebrity Cruises.
"Our history of collaborating with Autism on the Seas has led to this new designation, and we look forward to continue working with them."
Autism on the Seas’ cruise line certification program ensures onboard services, ship venues and facilities are accessible to autism and developmental disability guests.
AotS’ certification process covers four levels – Bronze, Silver, Gold and Diamond, and covers compliancy in cruise staff training, youth programs, pre vacation planning, dining and dietary needs and accessible accommodations.
"Celebrity Cruises has been exemplary in its efforts. We are honored to bring Celebrity into our family of ‘Autism Friendly’ cruise lines and look forward to continuing to work together to further accommodate special needs families," said Mike Sobbell, founder and president of Autism on the Seas.
