CenterParcs goes upmarket
Holiday village operator CenterParcs is reportedly ready to invest £10 million on expanding its range to include luxury villas that will cost as much as £3,000 a week to rent.
According to The Independent, the group is hoping that the move will attract more wealthy customers to its sites and provide a much-needed boost to revenues.
Since the company floated its shares on the UK stock market just a year ago, the share price has dropped by 30%.
The newspaper states that CenterParcs is to upgrade 59 of its standard villas into “executive villas” that will feature such luxuries as a Jacuzzi bath and en-suite bedrooms. In addition, there will be 20 new “exclusive villas” with saunas, steam rooms and outdoor hot-tubs.
Chief executive Martin Dalby is quoted as saying: “These are villas of very high quality and there has been strong demand for the ones we have already built.
“Occupancy levels in our existing exclusive villas are slightly higher than for the rest of the group. The villa can sleep eight people, so when you divide the price between them it is a very reasonable offer for the quality of what you get.”
